Tony Jojola (1958–2022) was a Native American glass artist from Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico, whose work powerfully fused Pueblo cultural symbolism with contemporary glass sculpture. Working in cast and blown glass, he explored themes of identity, continuity, and resilience, often drawing on forms inspired by Pueblo pottery, kiva architecture, and ancestral design traditions. Jojola challenged conventional boundaries between Indigenous art and modern studio glass, asserting glass as a meaningful medium for cultural storytelling rather than purely decorative expression. As both an artist and educator, he was influential in expanding the visibility of Native perspectives within contemporary glass art before his death in 2022.
