Giuseppe Armani was born in Calci, Italy in 1935. Showing prodigious talent from the age of two, he quickly developed a keen understanding of perspective, shading, and composition. His parents nurtured his gift, and teachers arranged for him to attend the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. However, after the unexpected death of his father when Armani was twelve, he left school to help support his family. In 1952, a local priest organized an exhibition for young artists, where Armani submitted a classically inspired sculpture of a male torso. Its anatomical precision gained immediate attention, and the piece was acquired by the Pisa Art Gallery near the Leaning Tower, which led to a permanent position as an artist. Over the next two decades, he traveled extensively to study sculptures firsthand, refining a style rooted in 16th Century Florentine ideals, known as traditional Capodimonte. Armani worked in a variety of media, including wood, clay, alabaster, and marble, earning national recognition for his craftsmanship and precision. In 1975, Florence Sculture d’Arte offered him an exclusive contract, granting him full creative freedom. Later, he gained international fame for his whimsical Disney character sculptures produced in collaboration with Arribas Brothers. Armani passed away in 2006, and his works remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
