The Brno chair (model number MR50) is a modernist cantilever chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929 for the bedroom of the Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic. The design was based on similar chairs the pair had made with wicker seats in 1927, all building on earlier designs of Mart Stam, and has since become a modern furniture classic, often held up as a prime example of the Mid Century Modern furniture aesthetic for its futuristic look and clean lines using a single piece of chrome or steel.
