Yves Ganne was born in Anjou, France in 1931. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Nantes, and in 1950 moved to Paris where he was awarded the Prix de la Ville de Menton in his first year there. His post-Impressionist still lifes, portraits, and city scenes display a strong Japanese influence and fascination with ukiyo-e techniques. For over thirty years he held annual exhibitions at the Galerie Drouant, and had his first solo show in America at the Van Diemen-Lilienfeld Gallery in New York in 1966. His works are on permanent display at the Musee National d’Art Modern in Paris and the Seattle Museum in Washington, and his prints and paintings are still highly sought by public and private collectors in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
