Victor Delfín (born 1927 in Lobitos, Piura, Peru) is a celebrated Peruvian sculptor, painter, and printmaker, widely regarded as one of the leading figures in Latin American contemporary art. Known for his dynamic, expressive style, Delfín works in bronze, wood, stone, and mixed media to create monumental public sculptures, intimate figurative works, and vibrant paintings that often explore themes of human emotion, sensuality, and social consciousness. His most iconic work, El Beso (The Kiss), a large-scale sculpture in Lima, symbolizes love and unity and has become a cultural landmark. Delfín’s art reflects a deep engagement with Peruvian identity and folklore while incorporating modernist abstraction and a keen sensitivity to form, movement, and texture. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has exhibited internationally, receiving critical acclaim for both his public monuments and gallery works.
