Shirley Hammett is a Texas artist who has developed a unique, impressionistic style which displays her vivid love of life and nature and is blended with subtle suggestions of her contagious wit. 

Shirley's artistry began manifesting itself at an early age in her native Corpus Christi where she pursued art throughout her schooling years. She was cartoonist for her high school newspaper and majored in art at Del Mar College where she was set designer for several plays produced by the student theater club. 

Although enamored with all painting media, Shirley's initial interest was directed towards oils. She was very proficient and extremely successful in both brush and palette knife and was tutored by several prominent artists in Texas and Ohio.  Seeking a new challenge, and the diversity not avaliable to her in oils, Shirley moved to watercolors. This medium finally gave her the versatility she personally desired and allowed Shirley to develop and mature as a creative artisan. 

Shirley has received many awards and ribbons, and her work has been displayed in numerous, prestigious institutions and exhibitions in Central Texas including the River Art Gallery and the Western Art Show. Shirley is an active member of The River Art Group, the Randolph Art League and the Windcrest Art League.
