Selma Gorlin was born on August 23rd, 1914 in New York City. She became enamored with Impressionism in her teens, eventually developing a Post-Impressionist style in her landscapes and still lifes which were exhibited frequently throughout her twenties and thirties. In 1976 she moved to Danbury, Connecticut, where she continued to paint until a stroke in the late 1990s made her unable to do so. She moved to live with family in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she died on January 26th, 2001. Many of her works are still sought by collectors and found in public and private collections throughout New England and along the East Coast.
