Craig Rubadoux (Born 1937) moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1945, where his early aptitude for art was fostered by classes at the Ringling Museum of Art under abstract artist Syd Solomon. He studied at the Ringling School and apprenticed to Ben Stahl, accompanying him to Spain where Rubadoux continued to study and exhibit for two years. Upon returning in 1958, he began a six-decade career teaching art at institutions including the University of South Florida and Florida Atlantic University. Today, Rubadoux is lauded as one of the most important living figures in Florida art history, with his work on permanent display at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
