Robert Rauschenberg (1925 -2008) was an American artist whose groundbreaking work helped bridge the gap between Abstract Expressionism and later movements such as Pop Art and Neo-Dada. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, he studied at Black Mountain College, where he was influenced by avant-garde figures and experimental approaches to art. He became best known for his “Combines,” which integrated painting with found objects and everyday materials, challenging traditional boundaries between art and life. Rauschenberg’s innovative use of collage, photography, and printmaking, along with his embrace of collaboration and new technologies, made him one of the most influential and versatile artists of the 20th century.
