Marius Girard was born in Rheims, France in 1927. He attended regular school and college until age 19, then studied at several art academies. His artistic studies were interrupted by national service where he spent time in Algeria. He became nationally acclaimed for his Impressionistic scenes of Paris, producing watercolor paintings that adorned many hotels throughout the city and graced postcards for over fifty years. His first exhibition in the United States and Canada was a tour that lasted from 1972 to 1973. In his later years he shifted to lithography as it became more and more difficult to paint, and he died of natural causes in 2014.
