Robert D. McFarland is an American watercolor artist who began painting seriously around 1987 after being introduced to the medium as a birthday gift. Raised in Logan, Utah, he draws inspiration from rural simplicity and vanishing Americana—old homes, farm structures, landscape scenes—often working to capture mood and light with delicate, transparent washes. He’s been featured in regional and national exhibitions, including Southwest Art and Gray’s Sporting Journal, and consistently exhibits at shows like Coors Western Art Show, Small Works Great Wonders, and the Buffalo Bill Show & Sale. His technique emphasizes letting watercolor’s inherent unpredictability and luminosity shape mood, using layers of light to form both subject and atmosphere.
Condition: Alligatoring of paint in areas, yellowed varnish.
