Leonetto Cappiello (1875–1942) was an Italian-born illustrator who revolutionized early 20th-century advertising art after moving to Paris. Dubbed the "father of modern advertising," he replaced ornate Belle Époque styles with bold, memorable figures set against dark backgrounds to create striking brand imagery for clients like Campari and Cinzano. His innovative use of vivid color and dramatic contrast fundamentally transformed commercial poster design and continues to inspire graphic artists today.
