Laszlo Dus was born in 1941 in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. He was considered a brilliant young painter behind the Iron Curtain before escaping to the United States at the age of thirty-three, by which time he had already exhibited in France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Holland. His works have found a place in many major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The National Gallery of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C., the Chicago Art Institute, and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
