Kimberly Collins Jermain was born in Santa Monica, California in 1955, and first began to explore art when the family moved to Massachusetts, drawn to the Gloucester school of maritime and landscape painting. She obtained her BFA in Painting from the University of New Hampshire in 1985, followed by her MFA from Tufts University in 1987, and opened a business using color theory for commercial and residential architecture in 1989. She continues to paint to this day from her studio in Beverly, Massachusetts, working with pastels and oils to create vivid expressionist images of the East Coast and making prints of her works during artist residencies and fellowships all over the world.
