Guy Buffet, born on January 13th, 1943 in Paris, France, was a French painter and illustrator celebrated for his whimsical depictions of chefs, sommeliers, and waiters. After studying at the Beaux Arts de Toulon, he served in the French Navy, where he became their official artist and exhibited internationally. Following his discharge, he settled in Hawaii, creating state-commissioned murals still on display and establishing a family with his partner Lydia Carriere. Buffet spent time in California as well, gaining global recognition for his colorful, playful works. He passed away from cardiac arrest on September 22nd, 2023 in Corsica, leaving behind a legacy of art now held in numerous public, private, and corporate collections worldwide.
