Don captures the changing light and atmosphere of outdoor scenes in an impressionistic style that evokes joy and beauty. He studied under Joseph Occhipinti at the National Art League in New York, using a palette developed at the Art Students League. His work has been exhibited with the American Artists Professional League, Salmagundi Club, Hudson Valley Art Association, National Art League, and the Southern Vermont Art Center. Don is a board member and past Treasurer of the American Artists Professional League, a resident artist at the Salmagundi Club, and an active member of several art organizations. He has received numerous awards, including “Best Atmosphere” at the AAPL Grand National Open, the Grumbacher Gold Medal, and several Best-in-Show honors. Don has painted in France with renowned artist Kevin MacPherson and is represented by galleries in Maine, Vermont, and New York City. His work was featured in the September 2007 issue of American Art Collector. He currently teaches at the National Art League and leads outdoor workshops in Vermont and Gloucester, MA.
