Cornelis Bloemaert (1603-1684) was a Dutch engraver and draftsman best known for his detailed reproductive engravings after works by leading painters of the Dutch Golden Age. Born into an artistic family in Utrecht, he trained under his father, the painter Abraham Bloemaert, before specializing in printmaking. Bloemaert's refined engravings skillfully captured the intricate details and tonal subtleties of paintings, making them highly prized among collectors. Working in both Holland and Paris, his prints played a crucial role in disseminating Dutch artistic compositions and influence across Europe.
