Zero Gradient (born 1981 as Stephen Irving) is a British contemporary multimedia artist whose work bridges abstract painting, street art, graffiti and mixed-media expression, with a practice that also extends into sculpture, video, printmaking and digital art. He holds an MA from Teesside University and is known for energetic compositions that layer oil, acrylic and spray paint in abstract and action-style forms, occasionally incorporating figurative or animal elements into the dynamic visual field. Operating under the pseudonym Zero Gradient for his art and street work, Irving’s creative philosophy embraces the idea that creation often begins with disruption or transformation, engaging viewers to question preconceptions about art and reality while interacting with his immersive pieces. He also contributes to the contemporary arts community as co-director of the Pineapple Black Contemporary Arts Space in Middlesbrough, U.K., and his work has appeared at auction with pieces like Jungle VIP gaining recognition internationally.
