Royal Poinciana with Figure, Road & House, signed lower right, oil on canvas, frame is original crown molding. Circa 1980s, comes with COA. Willie Daniels was one of the original 26 Florida Highwaymen, a group of African-American artists documenting authentic Florida landscapes. Born in Bainbridge, Georgia, Willie Daniels and family moved to Fort Pierce, Florida, while he was in grade school. As a boy in the 1960s, he learned to paint by watching his good friends; Roy McLendon Sr., Livingston “Castro” Roberts, and Harold and Sam Newton, who were most influential.
