William Gropper (1897-1977) American, Pen, Ink, and Pencil on Paper. Shows an image of an American soldier looming over a globe, startling small caricatures of Hitler and Mussolini, while a caricature of a Moroccan smiles next to the American. Signature in print bottom right.

William Gropper (1897–1977) was an American painter, muralist, and cartoonist known for his politically charged art, social realism, and criticism of capitalism. A Guggenheim Fellow and WPA muralist, he contributed to socialist publications, appeared before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1953, and later devoted much of his work to commemorating the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
