Wes Hunting (Born 1958) American, 1983 Hunting Studio Art Glass Vase. Elegant swirl design with spots and fields of alternating blue-green hues, getting darker towards the bottom of the pill-shaped form. Signed W.A. Hunting and dated '83 on the underside, indicating this is one of the artist's earliest commercial pieces with his studio.

Wes Hunting was born in Kent, Ohio in 1958 and attended Kent State University, where he majored in painting while working as a groundskeeper at Hale Farm. It was here he discovered a glass studio being formed by Henry Halem, first volunteering as an assistant before shifting his educational focus fully to glass as a medium. After graduating he spent several years in Italy studying Murano glass techniques before returning to the United States for further lessons at Penland School of Crafts, finally deciding to open his own shop, Hunting Studio Glass, in Chicago in 1982. In 1987 he and his family moved to a new home studio space in Princeton, Wisconsin after the birth of his son, Wesley Hunting Jr., who now assists him in glassmaking. Together their diverse, whimsical, and majestic works can be found in museums all over the country, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Museum of American Glass, and in the White House Art Archives.
