Victoria Montesinos (Born 1944) is a Mexican painter, the daughter of a film pioneer and an actress, who discovered drawing as a means of self-expression during a solitary childhood in Juarez. She developed her craft under painter Jose Bardasano and later honed her skills during ten years spent traveling and working in Argentina and France. Upon returning to Mexico in the 1970s, she struggled against archaic social standards to establish herself as a full-time female artist. Montesinos later moved to New York to develop high-quality lithographic works and is now acclaimed for her oil paintings, serigraphs, and portraiture that often incorporate cinematic elements from her youth.
