Victoria Mimiaga was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1957, and obtained a B.S. degree from the University of Colorado before developing a love of the visual arts while working as a jewelry designer. She returned to Hawaii to study at the Honolulu Academy of Art before settling in California in the 1990s, where she continued her studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and the College of Marin in Kentfield. Her oil paintings became more and more figurative and satirical, focusing on environmental issues as well as branching out into landscapes, still lifes, and very popular images of animals and patron’s pets, many of which were exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Today she continues to produce new works out of her home studio in Mill Valley, while also teaching both art and piano in the local public and private school system, and was instrumental in forming Marin Masters, an art exhibit and benefit for the Marin County Outdoor Art Club.
