Vally Kelbrant (1905-1994) American, Oil on Canvas Landscape Painting.  Depicts a small pond in the California hills with the sea beyond them. Signed bottom right. 

Condition: Commensurate with age.

Sight Size: 15 1/2 x 19 1/2 in. 

Frame Thickness: 2 1/2 in. 

Vally Kelbrant was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on December 24th, 1905. Her family moved to Novato, California in late 1906 so her father could get work helping to rebuild the city of San Francisco after the Great Earthquake, and she spent almost her entire life in Marin County. She never had any formal training, but studied alongside many local artists in the area and primarily painted landscapes in oil on canvas. She was a lifelong member of the Marin Society of Artists, and passed away peacefully at home on June 6th, 1994.
