This is a thermoplastic union case with a tintype of girl wearing a polka-dotted dress and sitting in a chair. The tintype is a ninth plate and hand-tinted. The embossed covers feature elaborate scrollwork and the motif is repeated on front and back. The ruby velvet lining is attractive, and the case has a loose clasp and was probably made in the 1850’s. The case measures 3 15/16 x 2 5/8 in. wide. This is a thermoplastic case with a tintype of a girl in a period dress. The tintype is a ninth plate and hand-tinted. The embossed covers feature a Maltese cross, and the motif is repeated on front and back. The velvet lining has wear, and the case has a small chip near the clasp. The case was probably made in the 1850’s and measures 2 15/16 x 2 1/2 in. wide. This is a thermoplastic union case with a tintype of a gentleman with a mustache and small tie. The tintype is a ninth plate, and the embossed covers have a motif that is repeated on front and back. The velvet lining has some wear and the top hinge needs a pin to keep it steady. The case has nicely rounded corners, a snug clasp, and was probably made in the 1850’s. The case measures 2 15/16 x 2 1/2 in. wide.
