This is a thermoplastic case with a tintype of a gentleman with a suit and bowtie. The tintype is a ninth plate and hand-colored. The embossed covers depict a floral bouquet and the motif is repeated on the front and back. The ruby velvet lining is in very good condition and the case has a snug clasp. The case was probably made in the 1850’s and measures 2 15/16 x 2 1/2 in. wide. This is a thermoplastic union case with an ambrotype of a gentleman with a suit and watch chain. The ambrotype is a sixth plate and the ruby velvet lining has modest wear. The embossed covers feature a basket with a bouquet of flowers, and this motif is repeated on front and back. The clasp is snug and the corners are sharp. The case was probably made in the 1850’s and measures 3 11/16 x 3 1/4 in. wide.
