This is a thermoplastic case with a tintype of gentleman sporting a bowtie and goatee. The tintype is a ninth plate, and the case was manufactured by Holmes, Booth & Haydens, a company in Waterbury, Connecticut, that made copper-silver plates for daguerreotyping. The embossed covers feature a basket with fruits and still-life, and the motif is repeated on front and back. The velvet lining is in great condition, and the case has a snug clasp and a nick and small chip at two corners. The tintype can be lifted to reveal the Holmes, Booth & Haydens label underneath.The case was probably made in the mid 1850’s and measures 3 x 2 1/2 in. wide. This is a thermoplastic case with a tintype of a young girl in a period dress. The tintype is a sixth plate and hand-colored. The case was manufactured in 1857 by Littlefield Parsons, an early manufacturer of daguerreotype and Union cases. The amber velvet lining is soft and pliable, and the embossed covers feature strawberries in an oval, a motif repeated on front and back of the case. The tintype lifts out to reveal the Littlefield Parsons label underneath. The clasp is snug and the case measures 3 3/4 x 3 1/4 in. wide. This is a thermoplastic union case with an ambrotype of a woman with beaded hair. The ambrotype is a sixth plate and hand-colored. The case has a great label by Littlefield Parsons, an early manufacturer of daguerreotype and Union cases. The embossed covers feature an oval with grapes in the center on the front and an oval with flowers in the center on the back. The clasp is snug and the case has nicks at two tips on top. The case was made around 1857 and measures 3 3/4 x 3 1/4 in. wide.
