Stan Robinson (1927 – 1999) was an American painter best known for his vibrant post‑impressionist seascapes and coastal scenes, especially those inspired by life along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he ultimately settled after an early career as an art director in New York. A graduate of the Phoenix School of Design (NYC), Robison developed a signature technique of uni‑directional brushstrokes on textured canvas, which he used to convey the shifting light, mood and motion of ships at sea, beach life, and dramatic shore landscapes, infusing his work with both bold energy and lyrical serenity. His paintings reflect a profound appreciation for nature’s beauty and spirit, and his work is held in institutions such as the South Carolina Museum of Art and the Museum of the Albemarle.
