Robin Gary Wood was born in New Jersey in 1946, spending much of his childhood in Vermont before studying art at the High School of Art Design and New York University. He traveled extensively through Europe in his twenties, attending the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Belgium followed by the American College, Sorbonne in Paris. He continues his travels through Egypt and into the rest of Africa before returning to the United States in the late 1970s, where he settled first in Texas and later in Taos, New Mexico and took his earliest lessons as a draftsman to create abstract oil paintings that routinely invoke implied symmetry and form within chaos. He moved to New Port Richey, Florida in the late 90s, where he continues to produce works that have found their way into public and private collections around the world.
