Artist Biography:
Roger de la Corbière (1893–1974) was a French painter celebrated for his mastery of light in coastal landscapes and seascapes. Born Henri Roger de Mascarel de la Corbière in Vouneuil-sur-Vienne, France, he studied in Paris under the Russian realist Ivan Fedorovich Choultsé. Corbière's works often depict the interplay of moonlight and sunsets on water, particularly along the northern French coastline. Influenced by artists such as Paul Signac and Maurice Denis, he became an active exhibitor in prestigious venues, including the Société des Artistes Indépendants and the Salon de Paris, where he received awards for his work.
