Lester Chaney (American 1907-1998) Oil Painting "Afterglow" Presque Isle, Michigan. Signed and dated 1946 lower left corner. Titled on the back, oil on masonite. 

 

Lester J. Chaney, a renowned marine painter, was born in Hungary and raised in the United States. He studied under renowned artists Leon Lundmark, C.H. Woodbury, and Frederick J. Waugh. His work has been exhibited internationally, from Maine to California, and even in Europe and Australia. Chaney's realistic style, capturing the beauty of marine landscapes, has earned him recognition in the art world, as evidenced by his inclusion in "Who's Who in American Artists" and the "Modern Review of Paris."
