Roberto Camozzo (Born 1945) Italian, Ribbon Dancers Art Glass Egg Paperweight. The egg form shows two figures, one blue, one red, dancing together with ribbons in a mostly clear space. Uncontrolled bubbles and a blue base punctuate the scene. A label for Oggetti is on one side. Signed on the underside. 

Condition: Some scratches and a chip on the bottom edge.

Roberto Maria Camozzo was born in Murano, Italy on July 24th, 1945, introduced at a very young age to their ancient and famed art of glassmaking as an apprentice to Ermanno Nason. He later worked at the prestigious Mazzega Glassworks before getting his big break at the Salviati Furnace by working alongside maestro Livio Seguso, who brought Camozzo with him when he opened his own studio. Over the years he became known for his figural forms and his crystal clear large sculptural shapes, and collaborated with international artists like Robert Wilson, Fujita, and Alfredo Sosabravo. In 1980, together with Elio Raffaeli and Renzo Vianello, he launched his own workshop, Ars Murano srl, eventually going solo in 1997 with the creation of a new studio where production continues to flourish to this day, producing paperweights, vases, sculptures and more for his own storefront as well as major sellers like Oggetti.
