Richard E. Williams was born on September 2nd, 1934 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Interested in art from an early age he studied at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he focused on watercolors and went on to become a world-renowned artist in the medium. In the late 1960s he and his wife and their three children moved to Florida, eventually settling in Fort Walton Beach. Richard earned numerous accolades over the years and his works were displayed in the White House Art Collection. He was a member of the American Artists’ Professional League, the American Watercolor Society, a charter member of the International Society of Artists, and a charter member of the Florida Watercolor Society. He was listed in Who’s Who in American Art and was frequently represented by Park West Gallery from the 1990s onward, selling tens of thousands of prints of boats, waterfronts and serene seascapes, tropical birds and fish, and flowers. Williams began to have trouble painting in the late 2000s, and passed away at home on June 16th, 2016 after a long battle with dementia. A permanent collection of his work can be seen in his alma mater, and his pieces have been collected by numerous presidents and foreign heads of state.
