Reinhard Brandner was born August 24th, 1938 in Klagenfurt, Austria, and was drawn early on to abstract art. He graduated from the Famous Artists School in Amsterdam with a diploma in graphic arts in 1962, and his particular style evolved over time to focus more and more on balancing color and light, painting mostly on goldleaf and silverleaf surfaces to create specific effects. He invented a screenprinting technique called Manugraphy to allow for individual differences within a set of prints, and since settling into a home studio in Worthersee in the early 1990s he has also begun painting in oils on canvas and creating sculptural installations he calls “land-art-objects.”
