Persian Botemir Wool Rug - AS IS. 

Condition: Wear and tear throughout. 

Size: 61 x 82 in. 

Botemir rugs are made in the area around Hamadan in Northwestern Iran, primarily in the cities of Arak, Ferahan, Lylyan, Mahallat, Jozan, Malayer, Meshkabad, Mirabad, Sarough, Seraband, and many smaller Kurdish villages, known principally for the “Boteh” motif, an ancient highly-stylized shape resembling a cluster of leaves. Botemirs are usually arranged in rows, alternating their direction with each row, and fills the main field entirely, and the pile, typically vegetable-dyed wool, is hand-spun. The more monumental ones are often sought by collectors as well as modern decorators, due to their less busy patterns than commonly found on rugs intended for the floor.
