Pegi Wear was born in Belvedere, California in June 1922. During World War II she worked in graphic design for wartime posters, and drew cartoons for an instructive book for Alaskan bush pilots in the 1950s. She became an abstract Modernist artist active in Laguna Beach in the 1960s and 1970s. She was also co-owner of the Contemporary Arts Gallery in Laguna Beach, which continues to exhibit to this day. Little is known of her later life, although she still resides in Laguna Beach, having just celebrated her 102nd birthday.
