Paul Nabb was born in New York City in 1908. Intensely private all his life, little is known about his background or education, but his artistic skills and intense love of geometric abstraction is indisputable. He was a master in oils, watercolors, and particularly pastels, a medium he uses to create stunning, lifelike portraits and landscapes. His work is characterized by its delicate use of color, attention to detail, and the ability to capture the subtle nuances of light and texture. He was clearly classically trained, as his portraits, in particular, are celebrated for their realism and emotional depth, often depicting his subjects with a profound sense of presence and personality. His landscapes, on the other hand, are known for their serene and atmospheric quality, evoking a deep connection to nature. His work became increasingly abstract after the 1950s, almost completely eschewing realism by the late 1960s. Nabb exhibited his work in various galleries throughout New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and major cities around the world, with many now found in public, private and corporate collections in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He passed away in 1989 in the city of his birth.
