Igor Benca (Born 1958 in Topoľčany, Slovakia) is a Slovak painter, graphic artist, illustrator, stamp designer, and university educator known for blending figurative imagery with neo-abstract visual language. He studied graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava under renowned artist Albín Brunovský from 1981 to 1987 and later became an associate professor. Since 1991, Benca has taught at several Slovak universities, including the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, where he served as dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and head of the graphics department. His artistic practice spans printmaking, painting, book illustration, architectural art projects, and postage stamp design, including multiple stamps issued by Slovenská pošta. A frequent participant in domestic and international exhibitions, Benca’s work evolved from figurative symbolism toward contemporary neo-abstraction while maintaining strong expressive and technical foundations.
