Oleg was born in the city of Tashkent in the former Soviet Union in 1964. His parents were well educated and recognized the special talents and interests of their children. Oleg's interest in painting was encouraged throughout his childhood and the depth of his talent soon became evident. At the age of 15, he was sent to Moscow to further his education at the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts.
After graduation with honors, Oleg was immediately accepted into the famous Surikov Art Institute in Moscow where he received a degree in Fine Arts in 1988, followed by a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1990. In the era of glasnost and perestrojka, Oleg's exceptional artistic talent and unique style was immediately recognized and soon after graduating he received an invitation to work in the United States.
Upon settling into his new home, Oleg continued to expand his creative themes beyond that of his academic focus of Dutch, Flemish, Renaissance Masters and Soviet Social Realism. Surrounded by a free artistic environment and availability of new material, Oleg perfected his painting techniques and developed an individualistic, contemporary style.
Within a short period of time, he was offered several exhibitions where his work sold quickly, followed by a one-man show at the San Juan Caspistrano Museum, where his work received excellent reviews from the press and television. Oleg's paintings have been shown at the New York Art Expo in 1994 and 1996, and the Las Vegas Art Expo in 1995, with great success. His work is currently shown in galleries in the East and West coast, as well as Hawaii.
The enthusiastic acceptance of Oleg and his art in America ensures a bright future for this exceptionally gifted artist. Shaw Gallery is both thrilled and honored to exclusively represent Oleg Zhivetin in the Naples area.
