Nigerian Leather Decorated Ostrich Egg.

Ostrich eggs have long been used as decorative items, valued for their large size, smooth surface, and natural beauty. In various cultures—particularly in Africa and the Middle East—they have been intricately carved, painted, or adorned with metalwork to create stunning display pieces, sometimes serving as symbols of fertility, protection, or wealth. During the Renaissance and Baroque periods in Europe, ostrich eggs were often mounted in silver or gold and displayed in cabinets of curiosities or churches, reflecting both exoticism and status.
