Native American Baby Doll & Papoose. A baby doll in traditional Native American baby carrier, or papoose, made of leather, beadwork, feathers, and fur.

A papoose is a traditional Native American infant carrier, typically made of wood, leather, or woven fibers, designed to securely hold a baby while allowing a caregiver to carry them on their back or prop them against a surface. These carriers, also called cradleboards, often feature a hood or frame to protect the baby’s head and provide support. Used by many Indigenous tribes across North America, papooses were crafted with regional materials and adorned with intricate beadwork or decorations. They allowed for hands-free mobility, enabling caregivers to work while keeping the baby safe and close.
