Depiction of a hay harvest on the marsh, oil on canvas, signed N.L. Berry lower right. From Lynn, Mass, Nathaniel Leander Berry was supervisor and teacher for seven years at the local art school and was part of a group of seven "Lynn Beach Painters" that included Charles Woodbury and Edward Burrill. He later became supervisor of art in Newton, Massachusetts. Berry received art training from William Burpee and classes at the Cowles School of Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Boston Art Club where he became a regular exhibitor from the 1880s through 1910.
