A label on the back of the ornate frame from Serenade RCI dated 01/25/2018 gives information about the piece and artist, including the material and the title: "Phillipe Jr. (Medium)."

Born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1955, Nano Lopez discovered an early passion for art, winning his first drawing contest at the age of 5. In 1978 he moved to Spain to apprentice under renowned sculptor Francisco Baron, working with steel, marble, and granite. He traveled the world and furthered his studies at the Superior National School of Beaux Arts in Paris, experimenting with new casting materials. Relocating to the United States in 1983, he settled in the Pacific Northwest, where he established his own studio and developed the intricate casting, welding, and patination process he is best known for, particularly his whimsical “Nanimal” bronze sculptures. His highly detailed, textured artwork blends elements of South American folklore, synthetic materials, and organic textures, reflecting the vibrant energy of his diverse education and background, with representation through Park West and other major galleries.
