Bernard Louedin (1938–2024) was a French painter, illustrator, and printmaker known for his imaginative, poetic compositions blending dreamlike landscapes, symbolic figures, and a refined sense of color. Born in Les Sables-d’Olonne, France, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and later became associated with the postwar French figurative tradition. Louedin’s work often drew on mythology, literature, nature, and medieval imagery, creating fantastical worlds populated by musicians, animals, and enigmatic characters. He exhibited widely in France and internationally, and his paintings, watercolors, and engravings are noted for their lyrical atmosphere, meticulous craftsmanship, and fusion of fantasy with elements of classical and modern art.
