The collaboration between Mottahedeh and Vista Alegre unites Mottahedeh & Co., a renowned American curator of antique ceramic reproductions established in 1929, with Vista Alegre, a historic porcelain manufacturer founded in Portugal in 1824. Together they produce high-end, museum-quality historic replica tableware. Vista Alegre was established by the industrialist José Ferreira Pinto Basto in Ílhavo, Portugal as a joint porcelain and glassware factory. Founded in New York by Rafi and Mildred Mottahedeh, the eponymous company specialized in importing and recreating rare antique Chinese export, European, and Japanese porcelain. Their combination in the 1940s led to a series of successful ceramic reproduction lines still sought by collectors to this day.
