Michael Kachan was born in 1964 in the countryside of Armenia. There, he completed secondary school and was a noteworthy student specializing in art. In 1985 he graduated with honors from the Kiev Institute of Arts, and was selected to represent the Ukrainian Painters League in a group exhibition that toured major cities throughout the former Soviet Union and abroad. He immigrated to Israel in 1992, and created several monumental installations for various institutions. Today he is especially known for his vibrant, folk-inspired acrylic paintings and serigraphs, and is represented by Park West Gallery.
