Mark Pilato was born in State College, Pennsylvania on October 13th, 1968 into a family of artists, and first began making sculptures at the age of nine, quickly evolving from clay and foam to metal and stone by the time he was out of high school. A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts who also painted many murals throughout his home state and was responsible for creating Penn State’s animation department, his distinctive process of creating and casting bronze sculptures has led to his pieces being displayed all over the world, including in the CBS Collection, the White House Collection, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Fellowship Collection. Today he continues to make new works alongside his children at his workshop in Tesuque, New Mexico.
