Size: 52 x 79 x 5 in.
Marcus Botbol was born in Meknes, Morocco, in 1957 and immigrated to Israel at age seven, settling in Ramla, whose multi-ethnic, historically rich environment became a major source of his artistic inspiration. Largely self-taught, he later refined his technique through studies with renowned Israeli painter Moshe Gat, developing a distinctive command of color and composition. Botbol’s expressive work captures the energy of everyday life—crowded markets, cafés, musicians, and Mediterranean urban scenes—reflecting years of evolving compositional harmony. He currently transforms his cubist paintings into three-dimensional aluminum wall sculptures, finished with vibrant, double-layered acrylic colors and varnish to enhance their vitality and depth.
