Manoel Costa (born 1952) is a Portuguese painter and sculptor known for his colorful, expressive style and dedication to contemporary visual art. Born in Portugal and later living in Bandeiras, he worked professionally as a primary-school teacher before focusing more deeply on artistic creation after retirement. Costa is largely self-taught and works mainly with acrylic paints, often using strong, vibrant colors to depict personal memories, emotions, and elements of his cultural roots. Active in exhibitions since the early 2000s, he produces paintings and sculptures regularly, emphasizing intuitive creativity and the idea that art should express the artist’s inner life rather than follow strict academic rules.
