Magnus Engstrom (born 1936) is a Swedish-American painter known for his mid-century modern style and dynamic compositions that blend figurative imagery with abstraction. His work often incorporates elements of Neo-Cubism, using simplified forms, angular shapes, and rhythmic lines to create a sense of movement and energy. Engstrom explored a variety of subjects, including jazz musicians, still lifes, sailing scenes, horse racing, and urban landscapes, frequently transforming recognizable subjects into stylized, almost geometric arrangements. Working in mediums such as oil and acrylic on canvas, he developed a versatile body of work that reflects the influence of modernist painting and an interest in color, structure, and motion. Although biographical information about his life and career is limited, his paintings continue to appear in art auctions and private collections.
